Many members phone for help and advice and are somtimes surprised if they get an answering machine . Please not that the Secretary is NOT a full time paid offical and the number is not an office number but the home phone number. Inevitably there wiil be times when no-one is there. If you have to leave a message please give the following information;-
Name, School, membership number and home phone number. Please speak clearly and repeat the phone number slowly. It frequently happens that it is not possible to phone back because the number was not clearly given. If possible give a short description of the problem, e.g. maternity information etc. That will help in being able to respond to the query quickly.
The telephone support service is still available but for those
who would prefer it there is now a new support service.
It is now possible to get help online by logging on to the website www.teachersupport.info.
This will let you try out the service by using the'Ask 1 Question' option.Support
will be provided in the form of one-to-one confidential dialogue for those
who sign up (for free)

The Union has just issued an excellent leaflet giving advice to members on short term, medium and long term planning
They say re long and medium term planning, " It is not reasonable to expect teachers to write new plans for every group or cohort of pupils. Plans can be stored and revised and, often, only minor amendment is necessary. "
They also draw attention to the range of high quality material
for all primary core and foundation subjects available on the Internet, including
Teachernet (www.teachernet.gov.uk/Useful_Lesson_Plans_And_ Resources )
Schemes of work identical to those published by QCA are available on the Standards
Site (www.standards.dfee.gov.uk/schemes/)
